### Flaws and Weaknesses in the SkillsFuture Jobseeker Support Scheme:
1. **Ambiguity in Points Allocation**
- The table showing "Maximum points per month" is poorly formatted and confusing. It’s unclear which point values (e.g., 1, 5, 3) correspond to which activities, making it difficult for participants to plan their job search efforts effectively.
2. **Unequal Weighting of Activities**
- Some activities (e.g., "Go for job interview" or "Network with an industry professional") are worth significantly more points (up to 4 or unlimited) compared to others (e.g., "Browse career-related content," worth only 1 point). This may incentivize participants to focus on easier or less meaningful tasks (like browsing content) rather than substantive actions (like attending interviews).
3. **Potential for Gaming the System**
- Activities with "No limit" points (e.g., "Update resume online" or "Go for job interview") could be exploited. For example, a participant might repeatedly update their resume or attend superficial networking events to accumulate points without genuine job-seeking effort.
4. **Lack of Quality Control**
- The scheme tracks participation but not outcomes. For instance, applying for irrelevant jobs or attending low-value workshops could fulfill point requirements without improving employability.
5. **Declining Incentives Over Time**
- The cash payout decreases significantly after the first month ($1,500 to $750 by Month 4), which may reduce motivation for sustained engagement, especially since the points target also drops (from 10 to 5).
6. **No Differentiation by Jobseeker Needs**
- The scheme treats all participants uniformly, ignoring varying levels of need (e.g., fresh graduates vs. mid-career switchers). Some may find the targets too easy, while others struggle due to systemic barriers (e.g., age discrimination).
7. **Overemphasis on Quantity Over Quality**
- Earning points for "applying for jobs" doesn’t account for whether the applications are targeted or suitable. Participants might spam applications to meet targets, wasting their and employers' time.
8. **Limited Long-Term Impact**
- The program lasts only 6 months, with no follow-up support or accountability for whether participants secure sustainable employment afterward.
9. **Complexity and Transparency Issues**
- The rules are not straightforward (e.g., unclear caps on points per activity), which could lead to frustration or disengagement.
10. **Potential Exclusion of Vulnerable Groups**
- Those with limited digital literacy or access to technology may struggle with activities like "Browse/subscribe to online content" or "Update resume online," inadvertently disadvantaging them.
