Okay, I need to know. what’s the secret to finding the best hawker food in Singapore? Every time I visit a hawker center, I’m overwhelmed with choices. I mean, do I go for chicken rice, laksa, or satay? And is there a hidden gem that locals swear by but tourists like me never find? How do you know when a hawker stall is ‘the one’?

Also, I’ve heard people say that Singapore’s food culture is a mix of so many different influences like Chinese, Malay, Indian, and even Peranakan. How does it all come together in a dish? Like, do the flavors ever surprise you in a way that makes you rethink what you thought you knew about food?

Curious to hear what other food lovers think. What’s your go-to meal in Singapore, and what’s a dish I’ve got to try that I might not have heard of? Feel free to share.

If you ask me, why not eat chicken rice and satay at the same time? It's good, believe me!

I recommend following Alderic on YouTube. His take on the local dishes has been highly entertaining and educational.

Big Greg Eats is pretty good. He does a very comprehensive coverage of each hawker stall that he visits. If the stall sells multiple items, he will return 2-3 times just to try everything from the stall before he makes a video. +1 for his effor and dedication

He covers a good range of local food from chicken rice to fried hokkien mee to cze char

I will recommend him and also Alderic to anyone who needs an intro to SG local food scene
