Hi!
I’ve had my fair share of adventures dating abroad and I’m curious to hear your stories! From cultural quirks to language mix-ups, dating across borders can be as challenging as it is exciting. I recently dating French guy, he's sweet and all, but unfortunately he had to comeback to his hometown and long distance relationship didn't work with us.

Have you encountered any funny or unexpected moments in your international dating life? Let’s swap experiences and tips!

I've had some experience dating Japanese girl. The most important thing is: learn their language, at least in conversational level. I learn it by watching anime 😁
Plus, their English pronunciation isn't too clear, so I prefer to communicate via text.

I have one weird case and hope it stays as one case

Ten years ago (2015), I was just minding my own business when I got a message on Facebook from a Myanmar girl in Myanmar. she said hi. At first I thought she was a friend or colleague but it was really just a stranger making friends. Let’s call her A. So I was free so I chat back

One month later she stopped replying to me. I thought she had her fun so I dun care but at that time, there was a flood in Myanmar around her village so I was afraid she was dead. So I looked at her Facebook. She never updated it but I saw a girl B who always liked her post and seemed to reply in English. So I messaged her and said u dunno me and I dunno u but we know this girl A. I am from Singapore and just wanna know if she is alive. B replied and said A was alive but there was power outage but she will pass my message.

Turned out B was the girlfriend of A’s bro and A was surprised when B said someone from Singapore was asking about her

Kept in touch with both A and B and I actually went to Myanmar once and had dinner with B. Turns out that in Myanmar they learn how to write in English but not speak in English so it was weird.

I was supposed to meet B again in 2020 but Covid closed the borders and we never met.

I lost contact with B after the civil war started (but A said she was still alive). So I will probably never meet B again. I still message A on and off but I have never met her face to face before. We exchanged photos before and when I sent her a present (by post from peninsular plaza), she will take a picture of herself holding the present and send it to me via Facebook.

In all likelihood, I will never see A and B again. A is running a business in Yangon (when we first messaged each other she was just entering university)so I know how to look for her but with the civil war, it will probably never happen.

Wow, your story is very interesting. It's sad to see that it's end because of many obstacles. But wait, so you meet up with B, which is on relationships with somebody? I feel it's like something off.

Cos the person B was dating was A’s brother 😂

And when i say meet up, it’s literally meet up. In Myanmar it’s not like Singapore where a girl comes out with you for dinner etc. there is a chaperone also, her neighbour or aunty. So this lady sat beside her while we chatted.

I actually went out with some Myanmar girls in myanmar before. They can be married or attached. Usually a female chaperone will come along or the parent or in a few cases, the entire family.

One time they gave us space so I was alone with the girl on the table but they were all sitting on the tables beside us. 😂
