Strangest rules your parents had for you as a kid

My parents wouldn't let me play with friends at night. They said it was for safety and so I could focus on schoolwork the next day. That's why today I have good grades but no friends XD

My dad put a cockroach in my schoolbag to teach me not to be afraid of cockroach. It scared the sheet out of me and scarred me for life. Till today, as an adult, I still fear cockroaches

My parents had this rule where I couldn't eat sugary snacks before dinner, or I'd get in trouble. Guess it kinda worked, though, because I'm not super into sweets now
 
I must study otherwise I'm not allowed to play with friends. But I guess everyone has the same rule, especially Asian kids
